Travelling for treatment
For patients living abroad or elsewhere in India. What can be done remotely, what genuinely requires you here, and how to fit a cycle around a trip.

A significant number of patients travel to Hyderabad for fertility treatment — from the Gulf, the US, the UK, Australia and Singapore, and from towns across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Some come because family is here, some because treatment abroad is prohibitively expensive, and some because they want a specific opinion.
Fertility treatment is unusually difficult to travel for, because it runs on your cycle rather than your calendar. Planning around that is most of the work.
What can be done before you arrive
- A video or phone consultation to review your history and any previous reports, and to agree a provisional plan
- Investigations done locally. Most blood tests, semen analysis and ultrasound scans can be done where you live and sent to us — there is no need to fly for a blood test
- Reviewing records from a previous clinic, which frequently changes the plan
- Deciding the protocol and the approximate dates, so you can book flights around a window rather than guessing
What genuinely requires you here
| Stage | Time in Hyderabad |
|---|---|
| Baseline scan and starting stimulation | From around day 2 of the cycle |
| Monitoring scans | Every 2–3 days through stimulation |
| Egg collection | One day, with sedation and recovery |
| Fresh embryo transfer | 3–5 days after collection |
| Typical single trip for a full fresh cycle | About 2 to 3 weeks |
| Frozen embryo transfer (separate trip) | Around 5–7 days |
The split-trip approach. Where a longer stay is not possible, stimulation and egg collection can be done on one visit with all embryos frozen, and the transfer done on a shorter second trip. This is often clinically preferable anyway — it avoids transferring into a cycle where the lining is not ideal, and it removes the OHSS risk associated with a fresh transfer. Ask us whether it suits your case.
The male partner's timing
Where a fresh sample is needed, he must be here on the day of egg collection — which is fixed by her response and cannot be moved for a flight. Where that is not workable, a sample can usually be produced and frozen on an earlier visit, so his travel is decoupled from hers. Raise this early; it is one of the most common planning problems.
Practical points
- Bring every report, ideally as digital copies you can email in advance
- Allow buffer days. Cycles do not always respond to schedule, and collection dates move by a day or two more often than not
- Do not book non-refundable return flights tightly around a predicted date
- Medicines may be cheaper here; check what you can carry and what is better bought locally
- Ask about accommodation near Kompally — several options are within a short drive, which matters when you have early-morning scans
- Time zones: tell us your local hours when you request a call and we will work to them
Continuing care after you leave
If you conceive here and return home, we will provide a full written summary of your treatment for your doctor there, including the protocol used, dates, and what medication to continue. Early pregnancy scans can be done locally and reviewed with us remotely.
A note on the law. Treatment is provided in accordance with the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021, which governs who may access ART in India and under what conditions. If you are travelling from abroad, please raise your circumstances early so that eligibility is clear before you book anything.
Please note. This page is general information, not medical advice. What is appropriate for you depends on your history, your investigations and a specialist assessment. No fertility treatment can guarantee a pregnancy.
Start with a video consultation
Have your records reviewed and a plan agreed before you book a single flight.
Begin the conversation
Fertility care is a personal series of decisions. It begins with your history, your questions and the findings that matter to your treatment.
